The last Camp of 2009 and what a CORKER!
A truly inspirational bunch of ladies that really got to know what Ultimate Boot Camp was all about!
I was down with our recruits for the first part of the week and I really did not want to leave! They were all so funny, amazingly supportive of each other and simply a pleasure to be around. Becky ran the camp with military precision this week as well as imparting all her nutritional knowledge on our eager recruits!
Andy Duncan joined Jon again for this camp and the two of them had the girls working hard each and every day! There was sweat and a few tears but an overall sense of immense achievement.
To quote one of our ladies “I am still flying high – I am on the ceiling – come and get me down if you dare!” I love that!
Well done to you all. The weight loss and inch loss was very impressive this week as well. One of our ladies lost an amazing 10lbs and 19.5 inches!
You know that we do not harp on about the scales here at UBC, its about a life changing experience and becoming mentally and physically stronger - but ladies – in the run up to Christmas, I know how important it is that the LBD fits in all the right places…. So lets celebrate those pounds melting away!
The November Camp was the last of 2009 but the good news is we are back in force for 2010 Woo Hooo!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of our recruits from 2009. I have the best job in the world and it is because I get to spend time with people like you. I love meeting you all and seeing the journey that you take when you come to UBC.
Hearing about your achievements after the camp week is also brilliant and truly inspirational. Thank you all for your hard work, determination, support and smiles throughout this year. I am looking forward to hearing from you in 2010 and seeing a few familiar faces back to visit Boot Camp!
I would also like to thank my amazing team who make all this possible. I have learnt so much from you all this last year and I love working with you all. So thank you (you know who you are!)
Here’s to a healthy, happy Christmas and a fit and fun New Year!
Go Hard or Go Home! Whoop! Whoop!

October… Halloween has nothing on this!
Some real feats were accomplished this week and to quote one of our recruits…”I walked into XXXXXXXX (left blank so not to spoil to for future recruits) and came out a different person!” That’s exactly what Ultimate Boot Camp is all about!
We were joined this week by Andy ‘The Fear Master’ Duncan as our second PTI. He loved it so much is coming back for more in November!
Jon put together an amazing program and you can safely say that the girls saw a great deal of our beautiful venue and the surrounding area!
Becky pulled some great Autumnal recepies out of the bag for this week and many of the recruits have been onto the Members Area and have been busy making batches of warming soups and hearty casseroles!
We already have repeat bookings from this camp and we are so looking forward to welcoming back our ‘Boot Camp Junkies’ next year!
Already, thoughts are turning to our last camp of 2009 and the rapidly approaching Christmas season. At no other time of the year is it acceptable to eat chocolate covered brazils for breakfast washed down with Baby Cham! Remember the 80/20 rule and enjoy it all but get out and about and go for a walk or a run or attend a few extra gym sessions. That way you will not have to worry about un-doing all your hard work and you will still look fit and fabulous for those Christmas parties!
As this goes onto the website we have just two places left for the November camp, so if you really want to kick start the new you before Christmas, phone the office and let Dawn talk you through the huge benefits of coming to camp! Alternatively, have a look at the testimonial page on the website and read what our past recruits have said about their experience.
I have received confirmation that I have a place for the 2010 London Marathon – this will be my second go at this great event and I am really excited about it. If any of our past recruits have signed up then let me know – we can train together, even if its just ‘virtually!”
Stay fit, stay happy

Boys, Boys, Boys!
The weather down in Devon was very kind to us and the sun shone the whole weekend….
We managed to pack a great deal of activity into those few days and everyone (staff included) had an amazing time.
The enthusiasm and hard work that each of the guys put in was outstanding and the results that were achieved were a great reward. Everyone was pushed just a little out of their comfort zone and soon realized just how much they could do in terms of physical activity.
The afternoon in Chudleigh was a great experience for all (although I must admit, for me, hanging face down off a cliff face was quite daunting!) there were certainly some adrenalin junkies on this weekend!
As always, Jon had put together a great program and Becky, Mandy and Teresa all worked very hard to ensure that the boys were fueled well with great food for the action packed days ahead.
We all very excited to see the footage that Briony and Dave took for the Sun feature and we will keep you informed as to when this will be on-line.
We have just confirmed some more dates for 2010 and these will be on the website very shortly so keep checking!
Stay fit!

August brings together a great bunch of recruits and a new location for the UBC team!
I know many of you are waiting on dates for next year and I am just finalizing those now. I will get them on-line and email them to you as soon as I can. Due to popular demand we may be adding another weekend camp for late October so I will keep you posted on those dates too.
As always, keep us updated on how things are going. Some of you have some fitness challenges coming up towards the end of the year and we would love to hear how they go.
The first ever Ultimate Men’s Boot Camp weekend is coming up very soon and we still have a few places remaining. So if the man in your life could do with the UBC experience then call the office for some more information or check out the website.
The UBC team have put together some tips for a healthy lifestyle that are currently being featured on ‘Marie-Claire on line’ check them out here.
All our past recruits know all these already but it doesn’t hurt to be reminded!
I hope August continues to be a great month for you all and that the sun shines on you when you are pounding the pavements!
Remember – if something is easy it’s probably not worth having….
Stay happy, stay fit

July - The wettest camp ever?
The weight loss and inch loss for July was brilliant and all the recruits were really pleased with their achievements as were all the staff!
We added a few new elements to the camp this week but you will have to book on to find out what those are……
The glossy magazines are full to the brim at the moment with ways to shape up for the bikini season but I can’t think of a better way than attending Ultimate Boot Camp. Forgot those fad diets, eat well, exercise until you sweat and enjoy every moment and you will get the results you deserve.
Here at UBC HQ we are preparing for our August camp, which runs from the 7th to the 14th in Hereford. It is a new location for us and brings with it some great opportunities to try new things and explore the possibilities for the training programs and activities. The venue is truly beautiful and I cannot wait to get down there and spend week with all of our August recruits.
We only have one place left for this camp so if you are thinking about attending, you need to give Dawn in the office a call as soon as possible!
Jon (Head PTI) is beavering away putting together the schedule for the week and it promises to be great fun and to deliver the results you have come to expect from the UBC team.
Our resident Nutritionist, Rebecca Amey has added some delicious new meals to our menu plan and again I cannot wait to do the taste test (I love that part of my job!)
The team are currently finalizing dates for 2010 and these will be posted on the website very soon. If you are thinking of attending a camp next year, you can email the office and we will contact you with dates as soon as we have them.
To all those who have been on a camp – Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress, we love hearing from you all and we are so proud that you have taken so much with you from camp.
For those of you who are still thinking about whether to book or not – GO FOR IT! It will be a week of your life that you will never forget, just have a look through the testimonials, it really is a life changing experience that I am so happy to be part of!
Stay fit, stay happy!

Ultimate Weekends – lots of fun and lots of sun-cream!
The sun shone down on our beautiful Devon location for the whole weekend and a great time was had by all!
We had some amazing results from all the girls that attended the camp and the feedback has been wonderful to hear.
Here at UBC HQ we were keen to see how the weekends would compare to our weeklong camps and we are thrilled that all those who were part of it experienced the same sense of achievement.
Our weekend camps are a condensed version of the full Ultimate Boot Camp experience and offer the same variation and quality of training, beautiful food and accommodation.
We pack so much into the weekend experience, I can hardly believe we fit it all into 4 days!
Our very own Dawn Howorth came along to the UBC weekend as a recruit and loved every minute of it! So, if you call the office to speak to her about booking on a camp, be prepared – her enthusiasm is contagious!
Keep checking the website and the news page for an update on future weekend dates……
Jon Stratford (Head PTI) took charge of another group of ladies this weekend (28th June) when UBC took part in the Bury St. Edmunds ‘Race For Life’.
The UBC team were there all day, cheering on the girls as they completed their 5K race! Jon then took the crowd through a cool down so that any aches and pains the following day were reduced to a minimum!
We are so proud to be part of such a great event and we look forward to being even more involved in the future…
Well done to all those that took part!
UBC HQ is busy preparing for the ’10 Years Younger Show’ that kicks off this week (3rd, 4th and 5th July at Earls Court).
Come along and see us at our stand and bring your trainers for a UBC workout with Jon.
For all you past recruits reading this – come along and you never know, you may see some familiar faces from previous camps!
I am so looking forward to spending the weekend catching up with past recruits and meeting all those potential new recruits!
See you all soon – Stay fit, stay happy!

June brings very little sunshine so far and the first UBC weekend!
The UBC team spent a couple of days down in The New Forest carrying out a recce of the location so that we are fully prepared for the next few camps. It is an amazing area and so beautiful.
We have also had a lot of enquiries from ladies interested in our Ultimate Weekend camp (19th – 22nd June). It is nice to know that we can offer you all a UBC experience even if you do not have the time to spend a week with us. I certainly know what a logistical nightmare it can be to organize a week away when you have a job and/or children and a house to run – so these weekends are just for you!
Jon Stratford (UBC PTI) has had a lot of interest from mums in the Exeter area wanting a buggy fit workout – we will keep you posted on this. I can’t think of a better way to shift those extra baby pounds than with a ‘Boot Camp’ workout with your baby gazing up at you from their pram wondering what an earth you are doing!
Our resident Nutritionist Rebecca Amey has been devising the new summer menu for UBC and I am really looking forward to sampling some of the recipes to see what she has come up with! (Just one of the many perks of this great job!)
Don’t forget to put the ’10 years Younger Show’ in your diary. We will be there every day so come and say hello and don’t forget your trainers and “I Survived Ultimate Boot Camp” T-shirts. The organizers have asked Jon to do a UBC workout each day – not to be missed!
The dates of the show are 3rd, 4th and 5th July at Earls Court.
Watch this space as we may have some tickets to give away soon!
Stay fit, stay happy!

Ultimate Boot Camp Prepare for Summer
We have all been thrilled to hear the great feedback from our last batch of recruits and are so proud of the continued progress everyone is making in their lifestyle changes!
Keep an eye out for the latest testimonials featured on the testimonials page on the website – they really are an inspiration!
Bookings are coming in thick and fast for the first UBC weekend and Jon has put together an amazing program for our recruits to enjoy!
UBC have been featured in ‘More’ magazine this month. Journalist Alison Perry joined UBC in May to experience the boot camp and was amazed at the results – the article compares 4 methods to lose weight and tone up ready for that bikini and we are thrilled that UBC came out in first place!
The magazine is out on the 2nd June so go and grab yourself a copy and read all about shaping up for summer the UBC way!
The ‘Race for Life’ season has kicked off around the country and so many of our past recruits have signed up for the 5K races having discovered a new love of running!
It is such a worthwhile cause, so many of us know people who have been touched by cancer in one way or another and there is no better way to show your support than lacing up those trainers and raising some money for this great charity!
If you happen to be running the Bury St Edmunds Race For Life on June 28th, look out for our very own Jon Stratford who will there cheering on all the ladies and taking them through a cool down session once the race is over. Good luck to all those taking part!
UBC are attending the ’10 years younger show’ in Earls Court in July and we are busy preparing ourselves for what is going to be an amazing weekend! Come along and see us at our stand and have a go at Jon's workout sessions on the big stage. More details to follow shortly!
That’s all for now folks!
Stay fit!

UBC at the Pink Ladies Lunch
The author Pauline Rowson (www.paulinerowson.com) was our key-note speaker and it was amazing to hear how she comes up with the ideas for the fabulous crime novels she writes. I was so pleased to receive a signed copy of ‘in for the kill’ and I can assure you - it is a page-turner!
Ultimate Boot Camp were honored to be able to donate 2 Boot Camp places at our June weekend camp (worth £990) for the draw, which was in aid of cancer research. The lucky winner was, Amalia Brightley-Hodges and she is very excited about coming along to camp (with a friend) to experience a great weekend at our beautiful Devon location. I will keep you posted on Amalia’s experience with us!
We have also had a lot of enquires about our very first men’s camp which is running in September!
Will keep you all posted!

Why Choose Ultimate Boot Camp
First off, you need to understand that unlike so many other fitness boot camps, Ultimate Boot Camp is not a quick fix!
If you want high quality, life changing experiences that are realistic and sustainable with the support from instructors who believe in coaching holistically and are held in the highest regard you will want to join us at Ultimate Boot Camp.
If you want to be mentored and coached during situations that for you are outside of your comfort zone, you need to be trained by people that have broad experiences and enjoy living well outside of their comfort zones. Experience cannot be learnt; our instructors have endured both mentally and physically over many years and this has led them to be able to pass this on to you through varied activities in order that you can realise that the Ultimate you is yours for the taking.
The experiences and coping mechanisms that you take away with you from Ultimate Boot Camp will aid you in every aspect of your life.
Ultimate Boot Camp is an education and support mechanism. We are not a train and forget organisation. We are not here to break you. If you fail, so do we and we don’t like to fail.
What will I achieve?
A realisation that:
you can perform to a much higher standard
you can endure exercise for longer
you can run further and faster than you thought possible
you can overcome your anxieties and fears
you can offer others so much more
you can lead a more active lifestyle
you can enjoy food without any dieting
you are mentally stronger than you give yourself credit for
you can choose how you want to live your life, without limitations
you are more confident than you realise
life is what YOU make it
the only person that can hold you back, is you
failure is the springboard to trying something new
you don’t have strengths and weaknesses, only opportunities to succeed
there are no quick fixes
that a negative thought is just that, a thought, nothing more
your lifestyle effects everyone around you
you are in control of your life
Ultimate Boot Camp really is life changing
Is it just another military boot camp?
Yes, but we don’t just use any old ex military personnel who become trainers after leaving the army. Where we differ from many other boot camps is that we only use serving or ex Royal Marine PTI’s. These are men who specialise in physically training other Marines.
Why is this important?
Because of the motivation and dedication to be a Marine, (arguably the hardest of the British Armed force training regimes), one needs a motivated and dedicated instructor. UBC selected the Royal Marine's so that you can benefit from their broad and varied experiences and knowledge and also so that you know that you are being managed by professional and compassionate individuals who are not ego driven, but take pleasure in helping people to develop and grow into the person that they ultimately want to be.
Our PTI’s are dedicated and motivated to get the very best out of each and every single Ultimate Boot Camp recruit.
We don’t shout and ball, any monkey can do that! It takes a skilled and balanced character to be able to read individuals needs and to have the confidence to be involved in that person’s life in order that they can achieve and succeed.
Stop existing and start living!

Royal Marine Physical Training Instructors (RM PTIs) can raise their voices and we do it very well, however, there is a right time and place for it. Training Royal Marine Recruits and getting them to respond to our commands is essential in order that they can react immediately and in the correct way as essentially it may save their or their colleagues lives in the future. On the flip side no-one learns by being shouted at, so even the recruits are coached and mentored in a calm and relaxed manner. We are primarily selected to be RM PTIs, because we are excellent communicators, at all levels, and are fantastic motivators who are passionate about developing people, both physically and, equally important, mentally.
At UBC you will have the benefit of being trained, coached and mentored by the very best motivators, whose ability, even when instructing groups, to read and be able to engage with individuals is second to none. When you arrive at UBC you have already earned our respect as it is far more difficult to try and change your lifestyle than it is to stay in your comfort zone, that's easy. Until you take that first small step out of your comfort zone, how do you know what you are truly capable of?
UBC only use the very best in RM PTIs, who are not only the most professional in the Armed Forces, but are also experienced personal trainers in our own rights, with a whole variety of clients with varied goals to our names. What you will get from me and my instructors is not someone who will shout and ball because they like the sound of their own voice. What you will get is someone who will empower you to perform to the best of your ability. You deserve it to yourself to experience UBC in order that you can start to live your life to your full potential.
I look forward to seeing you soon and to helping you to start leading a more healthy and fulfilling life.

Ultimate Boot Camp Launched
For the unknown, it is important to realize first and foremost that Ultimate Boot Camp (or UBC as it is otherwise known) is not a military camp.
The only aspect of UBC that is connected to the military is through their physical training instructors (PTI's). All UBC's training is conducted by Royal Marine Commando PTIs, regarded by their peers as some of the world's finest in the armed forces. Head PTI Jon Stratford is fully qualified to fulfill this role. With his years of experience within the Royal Marine's and his wealth of knowledge of exercise & fitness training, Jon devises the week's activites that will motivate each member to get the most out of their physicality.
Along with delicious food from carefully crafted menus, members will also receive fantastic nutritional advice from one of our panel of experts to help them understand about the importance of a healthy diet.
During their 'journey', members are given motivational talks from the BBC's confidence mentor - Jeremy Milnes. Because of his expertise, Jeremy was chosen as a personal tutor and mentor for the celebrities on "Comic Relief Does Fame Acadamy". The underlying principles he uses through his work mirrors those of the UBC ethos and inspired Sam & Rachel to engage his services to coach the UBC members. These principles are :
To motivate and energise people to take considered risks
To empower people to feel comfortable to achieve highly, and
To enjoy the learning process
Members stay in 4 or 5 star award winning accommodation and have the choice of a shared twin room or double bed single room.
If you fancy pushing yourself to take that first step, want to increase your level of fitness or simply want a break from the norm, then why not give the UBC team a call for more information.
